Devan Manning is an actor, director, and theatre educator born and raised in NYC.
Devan is thrilled to be working at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theatre. He has taught in various theatre settings such as an Assistant Teaching Artist at Roundabout Theatre Company, 14th Street Y Theater, TADA! Youth Theater and ArtsConnection and recently finished working at Ethical Culture Fieldston School as a Performing Arts Instructor. Devan has been teaching since 2015 and since then has gained a passion for teaching theatre to all ages. From his first teaching job teaching theatre at the 14th Street Y to being a Performing Arts Instructor at Ethical Culture Fieldston School, Devan’s passion, experience, and training have led him to work at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theatre, and he is looking forward to being part of the community and training students to become professionals in the performing arts. Which has been a dream that Devan has been wanting to do for a long time.
Devan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from Dean College and a Masters in Educational Theatre at NYU Steinhardt. Devan plans on getting his Ph.D. in Theatre/Educational Theatre in the near future and plans to begin research on teaching theatre to students with various learning styles because he too has a learning disability and wants to create theatre education programs for students with learning disabilities in the future.
When Devan is not teaching theatre, his hobbies include binge-watching tv shows, reading, seeing Broadway shows, gaming, food adventures, and creating episodes for his Book Podcast called Devan’s Read Aloud.
