Please note that new students should send an e-mail to
the director, Kat Davis, to schedule an interview and arrange for
placement.
Returning students should look on the HOME page (on the bottom, underlined) for the registration form. Please print it out and mail with a check.
Yoga:
Students are welcome to register
for Yoga with Nicole by sending an e-mail to the director. This class
is open to all students. Students younger than 5th grade need Nicole’s
permission, which can be obtained by writing to playhousejuniors@gmail.com. This class will only be held when there is sufficient enrollment.
Scene Study
Students in grades 5 - 8 may register for scene study from 2 - 3pm. In this class, students will be cast in short scenes and learn how to work with a partner on printed material. The culmination of their work is a presentation on the last day of the semester. Interested families must send an e-mail to playhousejuniors@gmail.com as soon as possible. Cost is $150 plus the regular tuition. Space is limited.
Donations to the Tuition Assistance Fund:
Please consider making a donation to the Tuition Assistance Fund. We have many students who request tuition assistance and we would like to continue to allow them to attend class. However, with tuition so low, it is becoming increasingly difficult to absorb this expense. Please consider making a donation of any size so we can continue to be generous to all our families.
Permission to leave unaccompanied:
With parental permission, students who are in 9th grade and above are allowed to go out to lunch. Students are permitted to go to McDonalds, Tal Bagels, and the adjacent newspaper store, all of which are located around the corner on 1st Avenue. Students who return late from lunch or go to unapproved locations will lose this privilege.
Students in grades 1 – 8 are not permitted to leave the building until the parent or guardian arrives to pick them up. If you wish to allow your child to go home unaccompanied, please sign the appropriate line on the registration form.
Supplies Fee:
The supplies fee of $30 includes a Neighborhood Playhouse canvas bag, folder for sheet music, handbook, pencil and photocopies throughout the year. Younger children receive a blue canvas backpack with a separate zipper pocket and the NHPH logo on the front. Older students receive a “messenger” style bag with the NHPH logo on the front.
Childsitting:
We will again offer childsitting services in the student lounge for students in grades 1 – 4. Younger students will relax and play while older siblings are still in class, allowing parents to return at the older student’s pick-up time. Fee is $4 per child. A happy meal from McDonald’s may be ordered for the child for an additional $5. Childsitters are students in the adult school of the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre.
New students:
Please arrange for an interview by contacting Kat Davis at playhousejuniors@gmail.com or 732-548-3656. Payment is expected at the interview. No late charges apply for new students.
