Greg Skura is a NYC based actor, director,
teacher, and private acting coach whose ideas and attitudes on actor
training have been profoundly influenced by the late visionary theatre
artist Joseph Chaikin. Greg had the good
fortune to train as an actor with Mr. Chaikin, and was honored to serve
as Mr. Chaikin’s assistant for his last Master Class at the Stella
Adler School of Acting. Greg continues to
train and develop his teaching philosophy in NYC and in Amsterdam with
Nancy Gabor, Mr. Chaikin’s longtime friend and colleague.
Building on the pioneering groundwork developed years ago by Mr.
Chaikin and Ms. Gabor in their ensemble workshops with the Open
Theater, Greg
has developed a system, modified for young actors, of fun games and
exercises that investigates the idea of “presence” and provides
techniques that enable young actors to be open to themselves and to
their creative impulses. Tools are introduced that encourage the
spontaneous and joyful examination of our relationship with each other
and with the world around us.
Greg holds a B.A. in Child Development from
Tufts University and is a member of Actors’ Equity Association and The
American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. For more on Greg’s acting work, visit www.gregskura.com.
