Darleen is a director and acting instructor. She has been on the faculty for 10 years. She has taught and directed productions at The Browning School, Masters School, CCSU, Bard College, as well as many schools in the Southern California Area.
For the past three summers she has been the Summer Director for Broadway Training Center. She has directed many plays at Stagedoor Manor including The Crucible and Once On This Island. She also created drama programs at Dorset Theatre Festival and Barrington Stage. At Barrington Stage she directed GREASE & THE ISLAND OF ANYPLACE and at Dorest Theatre Festival she directed ANANSI THE SPIDER & THE UNEXPECTED KNIGHT.
She is the co-collaborator & co-director of Dreams on Stage which played in New York for the 150th Anniversary Celebration of the Children’s Aid Society.
Her recent directing credits include: TROJAN WOMEN at Collective: Unconscious, THE CHOSEN WIFE at THE LOCAL at The Workshop, R.S.V.P. at the Westbank Café and The Workshop. She has worked with John Hickok on many projects including the Off-Broadway production of BURNING BLUE at the Samuel Beckett Theatre, BURNING BLUE at the Court Theatre in Los Angeles and RING A RING OF ROSY for the Harold Prince Musical Theatre Workshop. Additional directing credits include: INTO THE WOODS, WILD THING , PRELUDE & LEIBESTOD (Gallery Players), 7 URBAN SIGHTINGS (The Westbank Café), INFERNO the Opera (Manhattan School of Music), HISTORY OF WOMEN IN THEATRE (A.S.K. Common Ground Festival).
She adapted and directed ANGEL AT THE GRAVE for The Directors Company. In television, she has worked extensively with Lily Tomlin, was the associate producer for the television pilot CRUSH for Film Roman Prods. She is on the governing council of the National Musical Theater Network.
In life, one of her dreams is to help fight racism, sexism and discrimination everywhere.
